Sonali counts 19 years of wide and varied experience gained both locally and internationally, in Legal, Human Resource Management and Market Research fields. She joined the EFC in 2013 and functions mainly in the roles of Advisor and Trainer on Labour Law, Industrial Relations and Human Resource Management. Prior to EFC, she served the Commonwealth Secretariat, London, KPMG Ford Rhodes, Thornton & Co. Sri Lanka, ORG Marg Smart, Sri Lanka (then the AC Neilson Company), The Sri Lanka Law College and Bishops College, Colombo. She also has experience working with and training persons with disabilities.
Sonali is competent in formulating HR Policies, Procedures and Manuals for private, public and NGO sectors, developing job descriptions, setting key performance indicators and conducting HR and Legal Compliance audits, organisational climate surveys and work/time studies. She has provided onsite HR expertise to HR departments of companies and also represents the EFC on National Steering Committees on Labour Migration and Reintegration.
Sonali has received training in Industrial Relations and Human Resource Management from The Association for Overseas Technical Cooperation and Sustainable Partnerships (AOTS), Japan, in Performance Management Systems from the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad, in Developing and Implementing Competency Systems, from the Malaysian Employers’ Federation (MEF) and in Membership Development Strategies from the International Training Center of the International Labour Organisation (ILO), Turin, Italy. She was admitted as an Attorney-at-Law by the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka in the year 2000.
