EFC Concludes Training on Labour Laws Applicable to the Plantation Sector

The Employers’ Federation of Ceylon (EFC) successfully conducted a customized training programme for Watawala Plantations PLC on 7th and 15th September 2025 at their Thalangahawela Training center. The initiative was designed to strengthen legal and HR capacities, equipping employers with updated knowledge on labour law, employee relations, and compliance frameworks, ensuring more effective management of human resources.

The programme brought together HR and Operational Managers, HR and Operational Assistant Managers, and senior clerks from three estates of Watawala Plantations. Delivered as an interactive session, the training encouraged dialogue, practical problem-solving, and the sharing of real-world experiences, allowing participants to apply theoretical knowledge to the unique operational context of plantations.

The sessions aimed to enhance participants’ capability to manage workplace practices effectively, address employee-related challenges, and ensure compliance with legal requirements.

The programme further highlighted the importance of building legal and HR capacities in the plantation sector. Strengthening these capabilities is essential not only for sustainable growth but also for promoting productivity, employee satisfaction, and overall organizational efficiency.

This training reflects EFC’s ongoing commitment to supporting member organizations across industries by building professional expertise, promoting adherence to labour laws, and encouraging the adoption of globally recognized standards in best employer practices
