ENNYI – Let us show you the way to the World of Work

Launched in 2016, the Employers’ National Network of Youth Initiatives (ENNYI) is an initiative of the Employers’ Federation of Ceylon supported by the International Labour Organisation to provide a window for undergraduates into the real world of work through internships offered by the EFC’s member companies including leading corporates and multi-national enterprises.

Objectives

Increase the number of young people benefiting from productive internship opportunities nationwide.

Increase the overall quality of the internship experience, so as to actually contribute to the employability of the intern and the maximisation of both the social and private return of the initiative.

Ensure equal opportunities to access merit-based internship positions while allowing employers to be able to identify and recruit motivated and capable individuals. This will involve students coming from less disadvantaged backgrounds, notably from rural areas by studying in the National Universities to gain access to the World of Work.

Actvities

As a ‘Responsible Business Initiative’ of the Federation that has been recognised by the Global Apprenticeship Network in Geneva, the Employers’ National Network of Youth Initiatives (ENNYI) has continued to create opportunities for youth with the support of member organisations.  Following the launch in 2016, ENNYI has successfully placed many University undergraduates in internships offered by the EFC members.

The EFC invited interested member organisations and representatives from the State Universities to strategize the way-forward for ENNYI.  It is expected to introduce a digital portal connecting Undergraduates, Universities and Employers to seize the opportunities.
