Gihan Obeyesekere

Gihan joined the EFC in August 2024 and currently serves as the Manager – Marketing and Communications. He is an experienced marketing professional with over 15 years of experience, with expertise spanning brand management, media relations, and digital marketing. At the EFC, Gihan plays a pivotal role in crafting and implementing strategic marketing initiatives that strengthen the Federation’s brand presence, engage key stakeholders, and support membership growth.

Prior to joining the Federation, Gihan built a strong foundation in the private sector, contributing to the success of several leading organizations through impactful communication and brand strategies. This diverse industry experience has equipped him to drive results and deliver value in his current role.

Ruwan has been with the Federation since 2017 and is involved in the activities of its Solutions Unit. His main research strengths are Education Economics, Health Economics, Poverty Analysis and Labour Economics. He has contributed to the EFC publications/surveys on The Initial Assessment of The Impact of COVID -19 on Employers and Plantation Trade Unions. Ruwan also represents the EFC at various related fora.   

Before joining the Federation, Ruwan has been employed at the World Health Organisation, National Authority on Tobacco and Alcohol and the Institute for Health Policy.
