Lahiru Opatha

Lahiru joined the EFC in August 2023 and is engaged in representing member organisations in employment related litigation before Labour Tribunals, Arbitrations/Industrial Court, the Workmen’s Compensation Tribunal and the Department of Labour. He also engages in advising member organisations on Labour/Employment Law. 

Prior to joining the EFC, Lahiru has worked as junior counsel to several President’s Counsels and senior Attorneys-at-Law. Lahiru has exposure in Criminal law, Civil law, Notarial Work, Company Secretariat work and Arbitration matters and has appeared before the Institute for the Development of Commercial Law and Practice (ICLP) Arbitration Centre, Original Courts and Appellate Courts. Lahiru was called to the BAR in 2016.

Kanishka joined the EFC in February 2023 and is engaged in representing member organisations in employment related litigation before Labour Tribunals, Arbitrations/Industrial Court, the Workmen’s Compensation Tribunal and the Department of Labour. He also engages in advising member organisations on Labour/Employment Law.

Kanishka has been called to the Bar in 2014. He has worked as Junior Counsel to several President’s Counsel and senior Attorneys-at-Law since 2014 prior to commencing his own practice in 2020. He has exposure in Criminal Law, Customs Law, Labour Law and Consumer Law and has represented parties before Labour Tribunals, Magistrates Court, District Court, High Court and the Supreme Court.
