Vindya has been with the EFC since 2016 and has experience in representing member organisations before Labour Tribunals, Arbitrations/Industrial Court, Workmen’s Compensation Court and the Labour Department. She also advises member organisations on Labour/Employment Law and Industrial/Employee Relations and is involved in training on the said subject areas.
She has received training on Grievance handling and Workplace Corporation and on Violence and Harassment in the World of Work, from the International Training Center of the International Labour Organisation (ITO-ILO), Turin, Italy. She has also received training on The Role of Executives for Better Industrial Relations in the Global Era from the Overseas Human Resources and Industry Development Association (HIDA), Japan and has followed a programme at the Global Employer Organisation Young Professionals’ Academy in Madrid, Spain conducted by the International Organisation of Employers (IOE) together with the International Labour Organisation (ILO). She is currently reading for a Masters in Labour Relations and Human Resource Management at the University of Colombo.
Vindya was admitted as an Attorney-at-Law by the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka in 2014. She has served the Attorney General’s Department (Criminal Division) and has practiced in the Private Bar as a Counsel handling litigation on Civil and Commercial matters such as damages, property, defamation and financial fraud, prior to joining the Federation.
