EFC Successfully Conducted Training Programme on Employee Misconduct, Disciplinary Procedures and Punishments.

The Employers’ Federation of Ceylon (EFC) successfully conducted its training programme on “Employee Misconduct, Disciplinary Procedure and Punishments” on 11 June 2026 (English Medium) and 12 June 2026 (Sinhala Medium) at the EFC Auditorium, Rajagiriya.
The programme was designed to enhance participants’ understanding of the legal and procedural aspects of managing employee misconduct while ensuring compliance with the principles of natural justice and Sri Lankan labour laws. Conducted by EFC’s professional staff members, the sessions provided practical guidance to HR professionals, managers, supervisors, and employers responsible for handling workplace disciplinary matters.
The programme covered key areas including the identification of employee misconduct, common forms of misconduct encountered in the workplace, the application of the rules of natural justice, conducting preliminary investigations, issuing show cause letters, obtaining employee explanations, suspension pending inquiry, domestic inquiries, the role of HR in Labour Tribunal proceedings, and the range of disciplinary punishments available to employers.
The programme reaffirmed the EFC’s commitment to supporting member companies by providing timely and practical training on key industrial relations and employment law issues, enabling organizations to manage workplace discipline with confidence and in accordance with best practices.
